Bone Tool Making Workshop

February 19, 2015
bone_tools_2.jpg Long before we made tools out of metals, we used stone and bone.  Join us for a day full of inventiveness as you craft and create primitive tools such as knives, points, jewelry, shakers, etc… from deer bones and hide.  Learning to harvest every part of an animal allows you to feel more connected to creation.

Learn to read the stories of wildlife…

Though wild animals are not often seen, they do leave signs of their presence for us to identify and interpret. These sign are a window into the animal’s life. This workshop offers “tools” that will enhance your awareness skills as a tracker and trailer.

Topics will be addressed as we encounter them in the field, such as: identifying species from tracks scat, feeding signs, and other markings, interpreting behavior from track patterns, and understanding interactions between an animal and its environment. Participants are to bring a notebook, pencils, and a pocket tape measure and classes are open to all skill levels.

Available to anyone (under 12 must be accompanied by adult)

Please RSVP by Jan. 16th
